In late 1967 Don Kirshner was appointed music supervisor on CBS and began work on a new morning cartoon show The Archies Show. Kirchner immediately brought on producer Jeff Barry (who has worked with the Shangri-Las, Neil Diamond and The Monkees) and songwriter Ellie Greenwich, known for work with various women's vocal ensembles.
