American rock band formed in 1967 in Boston. In the late 60s the group attempted to succeed in the rock scene, relying on the traditional American country music and bluegrass, while all around them playing hard rock or psychedelia. The buzz around "Boston sound" helped them get a contract with "Elektra" and quickly record self-titled debut album, which was released in March 1968. The main part of the plate material penned by Peter Rowan and was a mixture of folk, jazz, bluegrass, rock and roll , skiffle and classics. This album, in a sense, "Earth Opera" anticipated the emergence of the Los Angeles "adult rock", which in the next decade successfully developed James Taylor or Joni Mitchell.
