German-bit group. The first and most famous bit group of the 1960s. Was founded in Hamburg in autumn 1960.
THE RATTLES assembled to play in local clubs cover versions of current hits from the American and British charts. The initial composition: Achim Reichel (Achim Reichel; lead guitar and vocals), Volker Reinhold (Volker Reinhold; rhythm guitar and vocals), Herbert Hildebrandt (Herbert Hildebrandt; bass, organ) and Dieter Sadlovski (Dieter Sadlowski; drums).
Reinhold and Sadlovski soon gone, and their places were taken by German "Ruga" Rugenshteyn (Herman Rugy Rugenstein; guitar, vocals) and Reinhard "Dickie" Tarr (Reinhard Dickie Tarrach; drums, vocals). Until the end of 1962 the band's biography THE RATTLES no bright events: changed except the names of foreign songs in the repertoire, but the signs on beer, in which they earned their daily bread. Cases have improved in February 1963, when the group has strengthened the new rhythm guitarist Hajo Creutzfeldt (Hajo Kreuzfeld), and the first line of the British charts ranked Please Please Me THE BEATLES. The group became an instant "German Beatles" and their repertoire radically renewed through standards Mersey-beat and a variety of rooms Lennon and McCartney.
It was their best days: group plays regularly in Hamburg's Star Club and Top Ten, appeared on the covers of pop magazines, and her music was played constantly on the radio. By 1965 THE RATTLES courage and refused to cover versions, to sing their own (written in English) song. In 1965-67 in the official charts of Germany had their Come On And Sing, Stoppin 'Las Vegas, La La La, Love Of My Life, Cauliflower and other songs.
The peak of their career came in June 1966 when a group warmed up the room during the West concerts THE BEATLES their last world tour. In the same year they appeared in the film Hurra! Die Rattles kommen, and also sponsored the new magazine Bravo (which still exists to this day). In November 1966 Achim Reichel received a summons and went to serve in the Bundeswehr. He was replaced by guitarist Frank Dostal (Frank Dostal), but Reichel was for a group of more than one of the musicians. The band's popularity soon began to decline and when a year later Reichel was discharged, he decided not to return, and started a new band WONDERLAND, which played with him Tarr, Dostal and later known keyboardist and arranger Les Humphrey.
Hildebrandt and Creutzfeldt gained a new group THE RATTLES: Bernd Schulz (Bernd Schulz; keyboards) and Herbert Bornhold (Herbert Bornhold; drums), both former members of the second tier, but the best of it is gone, and then decided to leave Creutzfeldt, which took place guitarist Frank Millet (Frank Mille).
By 1968 the group had gone Schultz with Hildebrandt, thereby breaking the last link of the current composition of the group with the original. New THE RATTLES, including: Millet, Bornhold singer Berzharano Edna (Edna Berjarano) and bassist Zappa Lungu (Zappo Lungen) - recorded gone unnoticed in Germany "EP,» The Witch, but also thanks to the radio, brought a group of unexpected success in the US and in England, where in 1970 reached the 2nd mark in lists and became a million-Celler! In late 1971 Schultz, Hildebrandt and Tarr met again as a part of the popular hard rock band RANDY PIE. In 1972 went to perform solo, Edna, and took place at the microphone guitarist and singer LUCIFER'S FRIEND Hesslyayn Peter (Peter Hesslein). He decided to restore LUCIFER'S FRIENDS and also left - at the same time taking with him and Bornholda. The latter, only symbolically continues to call THE RATTLES version of the group in 1975 amounted to Millet, Lungu, former lead guitarist RANDY PIE and ATLANTIS Klaus-Georg Meyer (Klaus Georg Meyer), a new singer Linda Fields (Linda Fields), keyboardist Lude Lafayette (Lude Lafayette ) and drummer Al Brock (Al Brock).
Formally, the group disbanded in 1976, but to say who played there at the moment, it is difficult. Interest in them waned after the 1970 final, and the group languish, performing songs composed entirely different THE RATTLES ...
Like most of their contemporaries, discography THE RATTLES is not too great, but pretty complicated and includes about half a dozen albums and EP, coming out from 1964 to 1974 in Germany and Britain. In 1994 the Hamburg firm IMS arhivistskaya reissued a significant part of the original recordings THE RATTLES (plus a live album and a collection of recent works of the group) on five CDs.
