The debut album from Melbourne, established in 1971 and is still in effect. Despite this long history, released only 2 studio albums. They were one of the first groups to sign a contract with Michael Gudinski, co-owner of "Mushroom Records", which released their debut single "Goodbye Lollipop" in February 1973, and again in August of the same year followed by the release the album "Stillpoint". The band's name translates as madder - art and printing ink is dark red in color. The band members - former students, artists from Swinburne Institute Of Technology and in 1969 they played together in there the group "San Sebastian". In early 1971, they changed their name to "Madder Lake". Were influenced by the British progressive rock ("Family", "Traffic", "King Crimson"). In January 1972, the group opened the Sunbury Pop Festival (annual Australian rock festival, held in the years 1972-75, 30 km from Melbourne). Album "Still Point" reached №13 in the Australian charts.
