The Cascades was an American vocal group originally from San Diego, best known for his single "Rhythm of the Rain," recorded in 1962 and became an international success the following year. They were active between 1960 and 1975. After breaking up, returned to meet in 1995 and 2004.
The more stable formation of the group consisted of John Claude Gummoe (voice), Eddie Snyder (guitar), David Szabo (keyboards), Dave Stevens (bass) and Dave Wilson (drums).
"Rhythm of the Rain" is one of pop songs recorded by this group, launched in November 1962. The song was written by John Claude Gummoe, band member. On March 9, 1963, the song reached the 3rd place of the US pop chart, and spent two weeks at the 1st stop that country entitled US Easy Listening. The song also entered the top 5 in the UK and reached the 1st place in Ireland. In 1999, BMI considered the song to be the ninth most played in radios and TVs in the twentieth century.
This is an enjoyable sampler highlighting the Cascades' vocal hits from the early '60s for the Valiant label.
This short collection provides a decent introduction to the group's best material, including the original
versions of "Shy Girl," "The Last Leaf," and their only Top Ten hit from 1963, "Rhythm of the Rain."
This budget-priced compilation will please both the fan and novice.....Allmusic
