As a cog that wouldn’t mesh, Dunton left The Gun in late ’69 and reunited with his former bandmates to reform Please one final time. They started with some good inertia but by early 1970 they’d morphed into T2 with Dunton, Jinks, Hunt, and Bulldog Breed guitartist/keyboardist Keith Cross. T2 cut only one album, regarded both then & now as a stunning set of proto-prog blues psych, destined to launch a fruitful career. However, once again, it wasn’t long before they couldn’t stand each other and the final spilt came within two years of the band emerging. They were working on their follow-up album when they fell apart, the demos of which were finally released in ’97.
