The Pop’s 1966-2002

The Pop’s were one of the biggest pop rock & roll bands in 1960’s Brazil, and central to the popular Jovem Guarda scene. They were almost completely instrumental, following in the footsteps of their idols, The Shadows. They’re twangy without being surf, heavily influenced by the Latin rhythms of cumbia, samba, bossa nova and the like, they’re light & tropical & loungey with a mid-century cocktail party sort of vibe - like Esquivel meets Al Caiola. They pick up some mild psychedelic influences on a few tracks along the way, but stay fairly consistent overall. Please consider sharing if you have other Pop’s albums not listed here.
