Country Joe & The Fish - California rock band from Berkeley, who performed psychedelic rock with elements of folk and blues, and famous for his anti-war concert happening at the height of the Vietnam War. They were among the founders of the American psychedelic rock and had a marked influence on its development, first of all, this debut album Electric Music for the Mind and Body (# 39 in the US Billboard 200), the material is continuously sounded in the underground stations and KSAN KMPX. The very name of the group was made up of two political cliches: the nickname "Country Joe" in America the 40s was known to Joseph Stalin, and "the fish" - a reference to Mao's dictum that the true revolutionary "among the peasants feels like a fish in water". The founder of the band, Joe MacDonald was almost the sole representative of the California scene, who himself served in the army. Country Joe & The Fish regularly performed in the halls of Fillmore West / East and Avalon Ballroom Chet Helms, along with Jefferson Airplane, Grateful Dead, Quicksilver Messenger Service and Iron Butterfly. They came and had success on two historic festivals in Monterey (1967) and Woodstock (1969).
