The Ivy League is a British vocal trio, formed in August 1964. The group's sound was characterized by great harmony and all three voices.
The trio was formed by John Carter, Ken Lewis and Perry Ford. They came to make the voices of support with the group The Who in their hit single "I Can not Explain" in November 1964.
Their debut single, "What More Do You Want" was not widely accepted, but the second release, "Funny How Love Can Be" reached the top British, UK chart's Top 10. Other hits followed, including "That's Why I 'm Crying "and" Tossing and Turning "which rose to the tops.
The trio with the original lineup has only released an album in 1965, "This is the Ivy League", which was much criticized at the time. Shortly after would leave the group, Carter and Lewis.
