The Pretty Things is a London-based rock band founded in 1963. At first they performed the garage rhythm and blues, consonant with The Rolling Stones, but much tougher; then English psychedelia; further hard rock; further music, close to punk and the new wave ... Having survived numerous changes in the composition and several breakups, they are recorded and perform concerts to this day, having the title of patriarchs of an independent rock scene. The two first albums of The Pretty Things, as well as hit singles: Rosalyn (1964 - the first single in the history of garage rock), Don't Bring Me Down (1964), Honey I Need (1965), Midnight to Six Man (1965) are considered classics of early English garage rock; concept plate S.F. Sorrow (1968) claims to be the first rock opera (several months ahead of the Who album (April 1969) by Tommy, and Rolling Stone magazine awarded the title of best album of the year in 1970 to Parachute's album. Emotions - the group’s third studio album , was released on the Fontana label in May 1967. Here the group tried to pay tribute to psychedelia, then fashionable in London. The producers of this label "decorated" the material transmitted by the group with completely inappropriate string and wind arrangements, against which the group was categorically against ... But the album was released After that, the band left Fontana and switched to EMI, and the singles Defecting Gray (November 1967) and Talking About the Good Times (February 1968) were often called the quintessence of English rock psychedelia ...
